What Is Trip Cancellation Insurance?

Posted by Administrator

Trip Cancellation Insurance is protection designed in the event you need to cancel due to a qualified covered reason. The non refundable portion of your travel expenses will be reimbursed. Plan details may vary by company, but covered reasons usually include the following:

• The insured, family member or a traveling companion suffers serious injury, illness or death.
• Home made uninhabitable due to covered reasons, including fire, flood or other natural disasters.
• Common carrier delays due to covered reasons including inclement weather, mechanical breakdown or organized labor strikes.
• Traffic accident enroute
• Destination made uninhabitable for covered reasons including fire, flood and other natural disasters.

In addition to reimbursement for cancellation and interruption, trip cancellation insurance may also have the following benefits as well: emergency medical coverage, evacuation and repatriation, baggage loss and delay coverage, travel delay coverage, missed connection coverage, accident and death coverage, and assistance services.

Considering Annual travel Insurance

So, is annual travel insurance for you? Answer the following questions. If you answer yes to any of the questions, you should look into obtaining annual travel insurance.

• Do you take several, short family holidays throughout the year instead of one long holiday?

• Do you travel extensively with your job?

• Do you visit out-of-town friends and family often?

• Do you own a holiday home that you plan to spend a lot of time at?

• Do you have ageing or ill family members that might not be able to complete a short trip?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, you should investigate annual travel insurance further. An annual policy may end up saving you money, but only if you spend a lot of time on the road. If you travel more than a handful of times each year, you should probably purchase annual insurance rather than trip insurance. However, if you only travel two to three times per year, you might want to compare prices before you make your final decision.

Many travel insurance policies will pay for cancellation fees if a traveler decides to cancel after a travel advisory recommends travelers to avoid a certain country. Others focus on the city. These policies will reimburse you if you cancel or cut short a trip because of a terrorist act at your destination either while you are there or within 30 days of your arrival. One of these options are equal in importance however they have differences so it is better to check out the details of your policies. Also, make sure to check out the exceptions to the coverage.
